Set Subjects 2025-26 season

 

Here are the Set Subjects for next season set by Martin Patten. Images for these MUST have been captured after 1st January 2025 (except Debbie Ram Seeker of Light – see below). Judges will be asked to score higher for those images that best fit the title and description – as well as being good quality. Dates to be confirmed but this will be the running order through the season.

 

1. Debbie Ram Seeker of light (PDI) - This award will be given to the image that the judge believes has the best quality of light. The subject matter is unimportant. The Primary subject should be well/sympathetically lit to bring out the best features & bring it to life. The light source can be artificial or natural or a combination of the two. (These images must have been captured after 1st September 2024)

 

2. A Different Perspective (Print) - Shoot something in a different way to which we would usually see it.

 

3. Architecture (PDI) - Give us a detail of a building which is interesting and engaging. Pick out an element of a building only - not the whole thing. Be creative in composition.

 

4. Reflections (Print) - Be creative - the key element must be the reflection.

 

5. Street Photography (PDI) - Capture a candid moment, not just a portrait pose. Try to tell a story or leave the interpretation to the viewer.

 

6. Moody (Print) - Shoot something which is ‘moody’. Moody can refer to emotions such as sad, mournful, happy…………….? It could be a person but it could be a moody landscape or a moody animal or …………? The ‘mood’ must be the key element of the image.
